Heavy Rotation: Trey Songz

I bought this album yesterday and have been listening to it all morning. Firstly, one concern I need to bring to light: is Nicki Minaj becoming the new Akon? I don't like her songs when she's on her own, but so far I love every single song she's guested on. For example, Bottoms Up feat. Minaj, is the first single from this album and is my favorite track. I feel like she's one Gwen Stefani guest appearance away from sealing her own fate. Hopefully she can find a way to avoid that. The only bone I have to pick with this album is the fact that there are three interludes and an intro. That is so unnecessary! What is this, 1996? (Remember when every R&B record had to have a million talking interludes plus intros and outros? 112, I'm looking at you. I'm so glad we've moved past those days) Other than that I really like it. Definitely worth downloading a few tracks.

Fave Tracks: Unfortunate, You Just Need Me, Can't Be Friends, Bottoms Up, Massage, Alone

  2. I have heard it. Like I said, I don't like her songs when she's on her own. When there is someone else (will.i.am in the case of Check It Out) to break up her flow and add some much needed variety, the tracks are pretty enjoyable. I'm not saying I like Check It Out, it's actually one of my least faves from her album Pink Friday. Will.i.am is tired. He needs the support of all the Peas to be taken seriously at this point. I like Roman's Revenge with Eminem, Fly with Rihanna, Blazin with Kanye, and Last Chance with Natasha Bedingfield. Listening to her songs with no guests is like listening to Burl Ives. A track here and there is remotely entertaining. An entire album however, is intolerable at best.
